While searching for new horizons, I became immersed in the skill of woodturning and my life has been spinning in exciting new directions. In woodturning, I uncover and capture the hidden quality of wood and adapt the wood to objects that belong in our lives ¿ objects with energy and spirit, with an appeal to be held and to be useful to people. Perhaps the most profound function of turned wood objects is their most humble role ¿ their ability to give comfort and pleasure. .
A turned piece has the power to awaken a sensation of peace and harmony. For brief moments, the beauty of wood overpowers and sweeps away the vexations of life and brings us closer to the divine spirit within. It is a re-acquaintance with nature. Wood carries a message that relates to our lives and I often give my interpretation of what the piece means to me.
